Can you imagine being held captive like that? Can you
imagine being detained due to the way your government is acting? I think the
sad part about this story is that a government could care less about the lives
of approximately 30. Why should the government surrender to the opposing forces
due to these twenty citizens? Unless they play a significant role in the
system, chances are, they do not care about them.
Let’s
just say that the government does surrender to the Taliban. How would they feel
later on? They would tighten their security systems to ensure the safety of
their citizens and prevent this situation from reoccurring. On top of that, the
next time they have prisoners, they will not allow this situation to repeat
itself. Due to the fact that they tightened their security systems, the Taliban
will not be able to hold citizens captive and blackmail them. The government
may use this to their advantage and turn it the other way around.
Disputes
such as these will never be forgotten; people hold grudges more than we think.
Each nation has a lot of pride and is run by people who seem unable to overlook
it. Somewhere in the future, another quarrel will arise and they will not
forget the actions that the Taliban chose to take in the past. An abundance of
our problems in the world today can be easily avoided. It is ridiculous how
much trouble is caused over nothing. People need to realize that the problem
itself is not worth the trouble and attention brought along with it.
